With MSN for Windows we produced a fully adaptive and responsive solution to bring the portal up to bleeding edge of web presentation and iteration design. Our aim was to provide a solution that superseded our competitors' offerings, with elegant designs that were optimized for touch, sensitive to screen real estate and held true to our business commitments to partners.
This was more than just a brand refresh and though primarily built for Windows IE 9, we designed it to HTML5 & CSS3 standards and in doing so created the first ubiquitous web portal; fast, adaptive and beautiful on any screen browser across any devise and platform.
I was the Sr. Design Lead, managing 10 designers in 3 locations worldwide and charged with delivering content experiences for the top 5 channels internationally; MSN News, Money, Autos, Living and MSN Now.
Across 28 countries, I had to: built consensus, coral content and monetiztion requirements, define goals, produce design strategies and provide constant tactical design direction.
In a continuous cycle of design defining and refining, I took change of: the design process, iterative rapid prototyping, incorporating user research feedback, course correction measures and messaging, along with constantly updated style guides and review process for vendors.
Always conscious of the market implications, I also created a bridge between the in market adverting contingent and our distributed development teams, to ensure we all knew what success looked like and and the design steps that would get us there.
Thru every one of these steps my team and I created, user flows, iterative wire frames and interaction guidelines for our development teams, so they would have clear line of sight on the goals and direction to get there.
